Game 13 Preview: Wrestling with the Grizzlies pt II

November 18th, 2009 | by clipshow817 |

LA CLIPPERS (4-8) at MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES (2-8)

Where: FedEx Forum, Memphis TN

When: 5:00PM PST, Wednesday November 18

TV: Prime Ticket /  Radio: KFWB980AM and 1330AM in Spanish

Probable Starters:

Clippers – Baron Davis (PG), Rasual Butler (SG), Chris Kaman (C), Marcus Camby (PF) and Al Thorton (SF)

Grizzlies – Mike Conley (PG), O.J. Mayo (SG), Marc Gasol (C), Zach Randolph (PF) and Rudy Gay(SF)

Current Standings:

Clippers – 4th Pacific Division, 12th Western Conference

Grizzlies – 5th Southwest Division, 14th Western Conference

In their last meeting the Clippers eek-ed out a narrow 113-110 victory for their 3rd win in a row. The Clippers are on the last game of a 3 game road trip and will try to end it on a winning note after beating the Thunder and losing to the Hornets. Rudy Gay is the man the Clippers need to stop as he scored 30 in the last meeting and is averaging 28 pts on 54% shooting against the Clippers. Gay also leads the team in scoring with 20.5 PPG. Zach Randolph and O.J. Mayo are the other scorers the Clippers need to watch out for. The Grizzlies may have Jamaal Tinsley play for the first time this season. Allen Iverson was granted a leave of absence from the team and will not play for the Grizzlies anytime soon.

Baron Davis needs to use his size and experience against Mike Conley. Davis can score on Conley but must get him out of sync by bodying up on him when he crosses the top of the key. Conley isn’t the best shooter out there but can make plays to Gay and Randolph. Kaman and Camby have to win the rebound battle since Randolph and Gay are both good at getting offensive rebounds and Gasol is a handful in the paint. The biggest problem the Clippers have is now that Eric Gordon and Kareem Rush is out their bench depth is getting thin. Craig Smith, Sebatian Telfair and Steve Novak have to outplay their counterparts on the Grizzlies. Fatigue may be a factor as this is the Clippers 3rd road game in four nights while the Grizzlies haven’t played since last Saturday.
