Game 17 Recap: Clippers overhaul the Pistons

Red hot shooting by Chris Kaman, Baron Davis and Al Thorton lifted the Clippers to their 7th victory of the season. Kaman’s homecoming to Detroit was a positive one and gave his family and friends in attendance something to be thankful for. Kaman only missed two shots from the field going 11-13 for 26 points. Kaman also pulled down 7 rebounds. The game was close throughout until the 4th quarter where the Clippers were able to put the Pistons away for good. The Pistons held an 87-86 in the 4th until the Clippers put on a 7-0 run and held that lead until the final score of 104-96.

Baron Davis had a solid game of 25 points and 10 assists. The interesting thing was how Davis got his points as he went 6-9 from the field and 2-3 from 3-point land. Davis went 11-11 from the free throw line. Al Thorton got back to contributing to the team by chipping in 19 points on 8-12 shooting. Although he didn’t shoot particularly well, Eric Gordon played a solid enough game to add 14 points coming off the bench. This is Gordon’s 2nd game back after sitting out 8 games with a strained groin.

The Pistons were led by Jonus Jerebko (don’t worry I don’t know who he is either) with 22 points and Rodney Stuckey with 21 points. Due to injuries the Pistons were without their big three: Ben Gordon, Tyshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton. Although the Pistons out-rebounded the Clippers, the LA inside dominance in the paint was evident as they killed the Pistons 46-26.

This was the end of the Clippers short 2-game East Coast road trip and will play the next 6 games at Staples Center. DeAndre Jordan missed his 3rd game with a high ankle sprain. The Clippers last won in Detroit on February 21, 2001.
